This course addresses the Florida Educator Accomplished Practice competencies areas of instructional Design and Lesson Planning, The Learning Environment, Instructional Delivery and Facilitation, Assessment, Continuous Professional Improvement, Professional Responsibility and Ethical Conduct. Psychological principles as applied to the K-12 educational system in America are explored. Topics include classical and modern theories of learning, developmental level appropriate learning activities and accommodations, motivation and various methods of assessment and testing. Topics of multimedia applications in education including application and presentation software will be covered. The course will assist teachers in developing attitudes, skills and knowledge that will enable them to identify students who are Limited English Proficient (LEP) and to provide and justify effective instruction for LEP students.
