(3) (A.A.) Prerequisites: ENC 1101 and concurrent registration in or completion of ENC 1102 with a grade of"C" or better. This course meets the Area IV requirement for A.A./A.A.S./A.S. general education, meets the 6,000 word Gordon Rule requirement, and part of the International/Intercultural requirement. The semester begins with a study of the literature of Native Americans and European explorers to literature of colonization, federalization, Transcendentalism and the development of major American literature to 1865. Emphasis is on the richness of cultural, racial and gender diversity that constitutes the American experience.
