ANT 2100 - Intro to Archaeology
(3) (A.A.) This course highlights the basic concepts and fundamental principles of method and theory in modern archaeology. The history of archaeology is traced from its origins to its emergence as a scientific discipline within anthropology. Students are familiarized with the concepts and methods of modern archaeology, and with the scientific goals of archaeological research. A survey of the latest advances in the field such as remote sensing and non-intrusive techniques is included. As a writing intensive course, ANT 2100 will allow students to explore the subject through a variety of college-level writing exercises that may include essay exams, book reviews, research papers, reaction papers, research proposals, research designs, excavation logs.
