EDF 1005 - Intro to Teach. Prof. & Field
Introduction to the Teaching Profession (3) (A.A.) This course is a survey of the educational system in the United States. Topics include an overview of the historical, sociological, and philosophical foundations of education; a survey of federal, state and local governance, finance, and policies; a review of legal, moral and ethical issues for teachers; and the professionalism of teaching. Students will be provided information on the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices, Sunshine State Standards, and the Professional Educator Competencies. Students are required to complete a minimum of 15 hours of field-based experience (during the term in which the course is taken) with preschoolers, children and/or youth in schools or similar professional educational settings. (This field component must not be via virtual modes of film or Internet.)
