CHM 2045C - General Chemistry I |
(5) (credits) (A.A.)Three hours lecture, three hours laboratory per week. Prerequisites: Completion of MAC 1105. Completion of CHM 1025C with a grade of “C” or better or one year of high school college preparatory honors or AP chemistry within last three years. Corequisite: CHM 2045L. This course meets Area V requirements for the A.A./A.S. general education requirements. This course is designed for students pursuing careers in the sciences or who need a more rigorous presentation of chemical concepts than is offered in an introductory course. Students will engage in problem solving and critical thinking while applying chemical concepts. Topics will include the principles of chemistry including atomic theory, electronic and molecular structure, measurement, stoichiometry, bonding, periodicity, thermochemistry, nomenclature, solutions, and the properties of gases. This course is intended for science and science-related majors.
